How to install Eggdrop 1.6.21 Patch ?

there is official Eggdrop 1.6.21 patch about a bug found lately. since egg 1.8 is not stable yet, i wanna install that patch but instructions are not clear how to install it :S i tried but giving error .. can anybody help me and explain how to install step by step pls ?

Patch files are generally distributed with the .patch or .diff file extension. You can only apply a patch to the uncompiled source code of Eggdrop (not to an existing installation that has already been created with make). To apply the patch, copy it to the directory you extracted the Eggdrop source to (e.g. the /eggdrop1.6.21 directory) and unzip it if necessary. You must then run the patch program—if the patch you want to apply is called eggdrop1.6.21+thefix.patch, type the following:
patch -p1 < eggdrop1.6.21+thefix.patch
This will make any necessary modifications to the Eggdrop source code. It will often spit out a lot of text during the process, but as long as it completes without messages about failed hunks, your source should be correctly patched. If you did receive hunk failed errors, you may need to use the -p0 option instead (e.g. patch -p0 < eggdrop1.6.21+thefix.patch).
